Police in Troy were called at around 10:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, with reports of a disturbance outside of the Corliss Park Apartments, located on Northern Drive.

When officers arrived, they found the 16-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso.

Police and fire crews treated the boy at the scene before he was taken to the hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition, police said.

Based on conversations with witnesses, investigators believe the victim and shooter are known to one another.

So far, no suspects have been arrested.

Police are also asking nearby residents who may have surveillance footage of the incident to come forward.

"We will continue our vigorous investigation to determine the individual, or individuals, willing to commit such a gutless act in a heavily populated area," Assistant Police Chief Steven Barker said.

"Our thanks to the Troy Housing Authority who has assisted in our investigation, and to the community members willing to provide information that will lead us to arresting the individuals responsible for this incident."
